Mr. Jeffrey Hira ‘89
- Major:
- Liberal Studies
I picked Dean, a great small college, to work on my liberal arts courses. At Dean, I was able to work on my core subjects with small class sizes. While at Dean, I decided that I wanted to be in television and applied to several great universities, before deciding to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Once at NYU, I got to concentrate on my major, since Dean had already helped with making sure all my liberal arts studies were complete. Next I interned at the soap opera, “As the World Turns”, and eventually was hired as a production coordinator. After seven years of love, romance, weddings, affairs, and long lost relatives back from the dead, I was looking for my next challenge. My next stop was MTV where I served as production accountant for their event programming (several VMA’s, Movie Awards, Super Bowl Half-time shows). I then headed over to the world of kids television at Nickelodeon, watching over the network finances of iCarly, Diego, Dora, True Jackson and the KCA’s. Dean was the first step on my journey, which hopefully hasn’t ended yet, of being part of making television.
