On-the-Spot Admission

Dean Ranked 20th by US News

Dean College has been recognized as a top 20 regional college for 2012 by US News and World Report.

On-the-Spot Admission

Every year around April, an interesting phenomenon takes place in High School Guidance offices – students come out of the woodwork with no college plan, having put off the college process as long as humanly possible, and then realize that all their friends are getting admission letters while they haven’t even submitted an application yet. Well, the Office of Admission at Dean College is here to help.

We offer a number of ways for your student to pursue on-the-spot admission and get a nearly instant decision. First, we offer On-the-Spot Admission Week, generally held on school vacation week in Massachusetts that coincides with Patriots Day. Students can contact the Office of Admission (or just walk in) on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of that week and a member of the Admissions staff will be on hand to review their application. If that week isn’t convenient, we also provide on-the-spot admission by appointment throughout the months of April and May. Finally, if you have a number of students searching for options and would like to have an admissions representative visit your school, just give us a call. We’ll be happy to try and schedule an appointment to meet with you and your students.

Here is the information we need to make an on-the-spot decision*:

  • Completed Application for Admission – This can be accomplished by completing Dean’s Online Application, downloading a PDF copy of our application, or printing a copy of the Common Application.
  • Copy of Student’s Most Recent High School Transcript
  • Copy of Student’s SAT or ACT Test Scores (may be unofficial or listed on the HS Transcript)
  • Letter of Recommendation From You or a Teacher
  • Any Essay or Personal Statement Appropriate for Consideration for College Admission

* Special Note: Applicants to the Dance or the B.A. in Theatre Program may be considered for academic admission to the college on-the-spot but cannot be admitted to the Dance or Theatre Program without a review of the required DVD evaluation by the Dean of the School of Dance or Theatre.

Questions about on-the-spot admission may be referred to the Office of Admission at 508-541-1508.
