Pathway Learning Community

Dean Ranked 20th by US News

Dean College has been recognized as a top 20 regional college for 2012 by US News and World Report.

Pathway Learning Community

The Pathway Learning Community is a one-semester program designed to assist students as they make the transition from high school to college. The Pathway Learning Community gives students a chance to become familiar with the demands of college courses, sharpen their academic skills, develop relationships with peers, faculty, and staff, and learn to budget their time and resources for academic success. Because the program is small, faculty and staff have a chance to work closely with individual students, focusing on their specific concerns.

The cost of The Pathway Learning Community is $2,500 for the Fall 2010 semester and includes two hours/week of Personalized Learning Services professional tutoring.

Components of the Pathway Learning Community

  • Four pathway specific courses taken within a cohort model (Psychology or Sociology, First Year Seminar, English, Math)
  • Students may select a fifth course or choose to take a decreased course load for the first semester
  • 2 hours of Personalized Learning Services each week
  • Additional structured academic support
  • Academic advising from The Pathway Learning Community Coordinator
