Arch Learning Community

The Dean College Arch Learning Community is designed for students with diagnosed learning disabilities and/or other learning challenges such as attention and memory difficulties who need additional intensive academic skill development. Through individual and group tutoring, smaller sized college level courses, and specialized academic advising, students will acquire the necessary skills to be successful in the collegiate environment. Our goal is to make students active participants in their education and take greater responsibility for their role in the learning process. The cost for the 2010-2011 academic year is $3500 per semester.

Fall Semester Components of the Arch Learning Community:

  • Four Arch designated courses (Psychology or Sociology, FYS, English, Math)
  • 3 hours of Personalized Learning Services each week
  • Academic advising from the Assistant Director of the Learning Center


Spring Semester Components of the Arch Learning Community:

  • At least one Arch designated course
  • One hour/week biology learning lab for lab science course
  • 3 hours of Personalized Learning Services each week
  • Academic advising from the Assistant Director of the Learning Center


Admission Process

Students who are interested in the Arch Learning Community must first meet the entrance requirements of Dean College. Once students have been accepted to Dean College, they will be asked to take the following steps towards enrollment in Arch:
